Dinner with the Padillas

I was invited on short notice by one of my co-workers, who also happened to be one of my batch mates in reviewing for the Civil Engineering board examination, to a dinner date with our exam coach and his wife. It has been more than two years since I got my own wings in the Civil Engineering world and I have yet to meet someone who can be a better coach than this person.

He has a few branches of his review center scattered in the Philippines and nothing makes me happier than to know that they are doing better in their business at this moment. With all the hard work and faith in God that they have, nobody deserves success better than the Padilla couple.

Just in case you're wondering who I'm talking about, it's Engr. Perfecto Padilla.

We had dinner at Barcode, a local restaurant decorated with something so easily associated with Zamboanga City, the colorful Vinta.

While waiting for the food to be served, we had a good time talking about the times that we had and also about one of our co-worker's wedding. He happened to bring along his wedding album and our coach flipped through the photos with much difficulty since he forgot to bring his glasses.

I didn't bother ordering since an order can serve about three people, and I wasn't ready to cheat on my diet just yet. I ate more than I should, but I also didn't eat as much as I usually do or can. Here are just some of the food that we had.

We took a couple of pictures to honor the moment before diving into the food.

We had some Ube-flavored ice cream for dessert and long after dinner was finished, we were still talking about various topics. And let's not forget Zamboanga City's unforgettable trademark.

Yep, we lost power. Apparently, there's a shortage of the power supply all throughout the city and our power supplier needs to turn our lights off for about an hour every night.

This is probably the main reason why investors do not want to start up round-the-clock businesses. An hour of productivity lost is highly critical for high-profile businesses.

Anyway, I definitely enjoyed the time we spent together and it was actually nice to see some friends based in Cebu City visiting Zamboanga City.
